Defend Against Illegal Evictions at Wood Street!
Oct 13 @ 5:00 am – 10:00 am
ome out at 5 AM Tuesday, October 13th to help the residents of Wood St defend themselves from yet another eviction. Game Changer, LLC, working with the Alameda County Sheriff’s department, plan to evict residents of the West Oakland Wood Street Homeless community, which is in direct violation of statewide eviction moratoriums and poses a threat to the wellbeing of encampment residents amid the still raging coronavirus pandemic.
Proper housing alternatives have not been provided and residents are at risk of losing their property to vehicle tows and confiscations if they do not comply. Sheriff Ahern plans to begin the raid at 6AM in an attempt to catch residents off-guard. We must not let this happen!
The United Front Against Displacement is calling upon the public to meet at West Grand and Wood st. to join us in helping the residents of The Wood Street encampment defend themselves against this immoral eviction. Let us show them the power of community defense!

Mass Rally to Count Every Vote! @ Oscar Grant Plaza
Nov 4 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

As we approach the November election, the multiracial working class is facing multiple crises: dangerous school reopenings, no pandemic relief, continued police violence and repression, climate change crashing down upon us, and a potentially chaotic General Election looming before us.

But we know that collective action in the streets is still the best antidote to the anger and fear we face daily. As democratic socialists, we must be a visible and committed force fighting for democracy and building a mass movement of the working class.

That means — whatever the status of the election — we need to be ready to mobilize on November 4th. Join East Bay DSA and coalition partners from across the Bay Area as we rally to demand that every vote is counted, and to begin organizing to grow DSA and our movement in the coming months. We’ll convene at Oscar Grant Plaza starting at noon for a mass rally and day of action. RSVP below!

Help! Santa’s Homeless!
Nov 27 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Meet: Cable Car turnout, Powell and Market Streets, then march to the Westfield Shopping Complex
This year, Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to San Francisco early. They want to tell everyone about their grim situation because they know they aren’t alone. Similar, urgent problems are also affecting countless others — homelessness, sickness, joblessness, you name it. It’s called climate breakdown and social chaos caused by a broken, greedy economic system.

We’re gathering at the Cable Car turnout, Powell and Market Streets, at 1:00 pm sharp. Then we’ll march with the Claus family to the Westfield Shopping Complex. We’re going to be very nice to Santa and Mrs. Claus but very naughty to “business-as-usual” considerations so the Claus family can have a tent-home while they’re here. Together, we’ll demand the City of San Francisco take immediate action to help the Claus family and save our city from the coming extinction of all life forms on Earth.

So grab your Santa hat and join us! Celebrate as we raise a tent for Santa and Mrs. Claus, standing up for the children of the world!

7th Annual Reclaim King’s Radical Legacy Weekend
Jan 15 all-day

It’s that time of year again! The 7th Annual Reclaim King’s Radical Legacy Weekend will take place January 15th-18th 2020.

This year’s theme is Re-Imagine. Reimagine and remember King’s unrealized dream.

Oaklanders have a dream:

We dream of a total transformation of how Oakland defines and implements public safety.

We dream of REfunding our communities with 50% of OPD’s dollars to create true public safety.

We dream of housing our unhoused.

We dream of being able to afford our rent.

We dream of an equitable and competent response to our most COVID-19 impacted communities.

We dream of communities that are not terrorized and traumatized by gun violence.

We dream of a 100% progressive city government that reflects the values that are the heart and soul of Oakland.

We are making our dream the collective lived reality of our City.

We are asking organizations to organize events over the weekend on January 15, 16, or 17. But please reserve Monday, January 18, MLK Day itself, for the 7th Annual Day of Action to Reclaim MLK’s Radical Legacy — Car Caravan: https://www.facebook.com/events/446637456326892

Events should be virtual or absolutely ensure safe social distancing and adherence to COVID-19 precautions. We will post events here as we learn of them.

See you online and in the streets!

Stopping Line 3 – Take Action! @ Online
Feb 19 all-day

Stopping Line 3 is critical.

In solidarity with Water Protectors on the frontlines on Anishinaabe lands in Minnesota, we are racing against Enbridge’s next big financial deadline, On March 31st, 18 banks have a $2.2 billion loan to Enbridge due for renewal. The 18 major banks involved in that loan have to make a decision whether to continue to support Line 3 or walk away from Enbridge and its toxic, colonial pipeline. You can help to send them a message: Stop Funding Filthy Fossil Fuels.

If enough of us take these actions together, we can make the companies funding Line 3 feel enough pressure that they will walk away from this toxic tar sands pipeline.

Email Bank CEOs on Feb. 19

Click here to send the CEOs of 18 major banks a message that they MUST walk away from Enbridge and Line 3 on March 31.

Your email will go directly to the inboxes of the CEOs at JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, CitiBank and the fifteen other banks funding Line 3. There’s no time to waste, we need these CEOs to get the thousands of emails on Friday, February 19 — will you take the time to click to #StopLine3?

Call Chase Bank to Defund Line 3 on Feb. 19

Prefer to use the phone? Click here for a phone script and link to urge Chase Bank execs to defund Line 3: https://stopthemoneypipeline.com/call-chase-defund-line-3/
