Stopping Line 3 – Take Action! @ Online
Feb 19 all-day

Stopping Line 3 is critical.

In solidarity with Water Protectors on the frontlines on Anishinaabe lands in Minnesota, we are racing against Enbridge’s next big financial deadline, On March 31st, 18 banks have a $2.2 billion loan to Enbridge due for renewal. The 18 major banks involved in that loan have to make a decision whether to continue to support Line 3 or walk away from Enbridge and its toxic, colonial pipeline. You can help to send them a message: Stop Funding Filthy Fossil Fuels.

If enough of us take these actions together, we can make the companies funding Line 3 feel enough pressure that they will walk away from this toxic tar sands pipeline.

Email Bank CEOs on Feb. 19

Click here to send the CEOs of 18 major banks a message that they MUST walk away from Enbridge and Line 3 on March 31.

Your email will go directly to the inboxes of the CEOs at JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, CitiBank and the fifteen other banks funding Line 3. There’s no time to waste, we need these CEOs to get the thousands of emails on Friday, February 19 — will you take the time to click to #StopLine3?

Call Chase Bank to Defund Line 3 on Feb. 19

DSA Orinda Barnstorm: Demand Democrats Pass CA Medicare for All @ Orinda Community Park
Mar 13 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

COVID-19 is shining a spotlight on the cruelty of the U.S. healthcare system — a system designed to maximize profit, not patients’ well-being. Millions of working-class people have lost their jobs and their health insurance in the pandemic-driven recession. Meanwhile, in California alone, 165 billionaires have seen their wealth increase by $175,000,000,000 since March 2020.

In the wealthiest state in the wealthiest country in the world, this is unacceptable. We must make healthcare a human right for all our residents. We must pass Assembly Bill 1400, the California Guaranteed Health Care for All Act, also known as “CalCare.”

To win “CalCare,” we need a working-class movement to apply pressure on Democratic lawmakers into supporting Assembly Bill 1400. Our first target: California State Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan of Assembly District 16, one of California’s most wealthy State Assembly districts.

Join us for our first in-person, no-contact, socially-distant Day of Action.

We will begin our Day of Action with a rally from those fighting for healthcare justice, creating a movement to win California Medicare for All, and pass AB 1400 – “CalCare.” Then, we will go throughout Orinda to hang door hangers to send a message to Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan that her constituents support a California Medicare for All system.

Join us in our movement to win California Medicare for All today. RSVP for this event here:

Oakland Solidarity With Amazon Workers – Car Caravan and Rally @ Lake Merritt BART Parking Lo
Mar 20 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Join the bike and car caravan to support the Alabama Amazon Workers’ union drive. March 20 is the International Day of Solidarity. The caravan will start at 1 p.m at Lake Merritt BART Parking Lot, 8th and Oak, travel to several Oakland Amazon hubs and then end at Snow Park, 19th and Harrison at 2:30 p.m. for a rally.

https://supportamazonworkers.org/march20/

Between Feb 8, and March 29, approximately 6,000 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama will begin voting by mail on whether to be represented by the Retail, Wholesale Department Store Workers Union (RWDSU). The harsh working conditions at Amazon warehouses, along with Amazon’s refusal to adopt measures that protect workers from COVID 19, have pushed Amazon and Whole Foods workers every- where to step up organizing and fighting back.

These predominantly Black workers who have in recent months formed the BAmazon Workers Union, are on the cusp of launching a history-changing workers organization against one of the biggest and most powerful transnational corporations in the world, and its super rich union busting owner, Jeff Bezos. In addition, these workers are standing up to the racist, anti-union laws that suppress labor across the South.

Solidarity from every corner of the labor and progressive movements is needed now to show the workers in Bessemer that they are not alone, that all eyes are on the historic struggle that they are leading. This is especially needed as Amazon ramps up their union-busting tactics.

#DefundLine3 Day of Action
May 7 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

For years, Indigenous communities and allies have been opposing the construction of the Line 3 pipeline, which would transport nearly one million barrels of dirty tar sands oil – every single day. Enbridge Energy, the company building the pipeline, has a terrible environmental track record, and this pipeline would violate several treaties with indigenous communities.

Indigenous-led water protectors and allies in Minnesota are taking action every day to stop the construction of Enbridge’s Line 3 pipeline – confronting bulldozers, decision-makers, and the politicians that are putting profit before people. Pipelines take billions of dollars to build – and banks like JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Bank of America, TD Ameritrade, Union Bank – as well as insurers like Liberty Mutual – are bankrolling Line 3.

As part of a Global Day of Action May 7th – we’ll be mobilizing in San Francisco’s Financial District to send a clear message to the banks and investors that they must #DefundLine3.

Join us at 10am at the corner of Sansome and Market (E-trade Plaza) as we work to Stop the Money Pipeline. We’ll have plenty of art and signs for people to carry, but feel free to bring any signage that reflects the message of the day– Defund Line 3!

Community safety is always a priority, and we ask everyone in attendance to adhere to the public health guidelines that have been circulated. Please:

Wear a mask at all times
Practice social distancing
Use & bring hand sanitizer
Stay home if you feel sick, or if you have been exposed to anyone with COVID or that is quarantining

You can also RSVP here if you’d rather not let FB know even more about your life than they already do: https://actionnetwork.org/events/san-francisco-defundline3-day-of-action

Youth Action at Air District Headquarters, June 1; Hearing June 2 @ BAAQMD Headquarters
Jun 1 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Attend an action at the Air District (BAAQMD) Headquarters, stand with community youth and organizations, and tell the Board members we need them to vote the right way —on June 2nd, the next day—to protect community health from the ravages of particulate matter pollution.  We cannot afford to lose this intergenerational fight for environmental justice.  Our lungs just cannot afford it.

You can RSVP for the June 1st action on Facebook (or here if you don’t have Facebook).

And don’t forget to sign the petition!

The Air District must protect community health and truly bring “a healthy breathing environment for every Bay Area resident,” in the words of its mission statement.

The next day on June 2nd, the Bay Area Air District will be voting on whether to take strong regulatory action against Chevron and PBF refineries and force the facilities to make dramatic pollution cuts.  After seeing the stark health impact data and hearing from community members like you, the Advisory Council of the Air District recommended that BAAQMD take “maximum feasible action within its authority to reduce emissions from [particulate matter] sources, prioritizing the most impacted areas.”  However, Big Oil and its allies are lobbying aggressively against the cat cracker Rule 6-5, distorting facts and making false claims.

Good Trouble: Candlelight Vigil for Democracy @ Entrance is on Martin Luther King
Jul 17 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

America is at a crossroads.

Six months have passed since the failed attack on our nation and our democracy on January 6th. Since that day, anti-voter laws have been passed in states all over the country and the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent rulings have made clear that it will not act to protect the sacred right to vote. This summer, Congressional districts risk being redrawn in a way that will allow politicians to choose their voters – rather than the voters fairly choosing who represents them.

We have reached an inflection point in which we must force our elected officials to act now or risk losing the very foundation of our republic.

But there is hope for us to stop this undercurrent of corruption and rebuild American democracy so that the freedom to vote is protected, billionaires don’t control our political systems, and our representatives actually respond to we the people.

To do this, we must pass the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and D.C. Statehood – and we can’t let anything, including the Jim Crow filibuster, stand in our way!

Join us for The Good Trouble Vigils for Democracy on July 17 – the one year mark of the passing of Rep.John Lewis – as we carry on his legacy by hosting candlelight vigils nationwide to demand that Congress act to protect our freedom to vote and rebuild our democracy.

We must and will win this Fight!

Get Killer Cops Off the Street! @ Online
Aug 20 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Make calls together on Zoom to get killer cops off our streets!

Community,
Today at noon we’re making calls together on Zoom to get killer cops off our streets! Grab your lunch and join our SB2 Lunch POWER Hour.

While police officers continue to harm our community members without any accountability, California is only 1 out of 4 states that has no law to decertify cops that put our communities in danger.

Join us, Michelle and Ashley Monterrosa (sisters of Sean Monterrosa, who was killed by Vallejo PD in the wake of the George Floyd uprisings), and the Let Us Live coalition to demand change from Bay Area legislators!
WHAT: SB2 Lunch Power Hour
WHEN: Friday, August 20, 2021 from 12 to 1 p.m.
WHERE: Zoom : bit.ly/sb2powerhour0820

Police officers engaging in anti-Black racism and abuse of their power creates unsafe communities. California has an obligation to ensure their badges are PERMANENTLY taken away when they commit serious misconduct, removing them from our streets and ensuring they can do no more harm.

Share this to get the word out. We want to get these dangerous cops off of our streets ASAP!

In solidarity,
Anti Police-Terror Project
Anti Police-Terror Project is a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. We support families surviving police terror in their fight for justice, documenting police abuses and connecting impacted families and community members with resources, legal referrals, and opportunities for healing.
