July 15th Nationwide Protests – Rally at UN Plaza then March to the Mission
To all who agonize and rage at what’s being done to the people, protest and demand:
THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE to Accept a Fascist America!
Only the people acting together in the streets and public square can force this demand before the world. Should we fail to do so, the future and values we aspire to could be brutally cut short by the actions of the Trump/Pence regime.
The Trump/Pence government has been step by step criminalizing dissent and bludgeoning the truth with worse to come. Stripping away basic rights and the rule of law is at the core of fascism. Group after group is demonized and targeted along a trajectory leading to real horrors. We must not let this be normalized. History has shown that fascism must be stopped before it becomes too late.
July 15th must be a day when every person, every group –religious, community, service, political organization – all who feel the tremendous threat to humanity posed by the Trump/Pence regime – stand together showing the world that people here are determined that this regime must go …not in two years or four, but now.
On July 15, with conviction and courage, overcoming fear and uncertainty, we will act together to resist and say NO!… Not for ourselves alone, but in the name of humanity.

Sadly, we have also had to endure racist attacks on email, phone, Yelp, and social media. As an Arab bakery committed to social justice, we are acutely aware of the troubling path this country is on. We have seen through this presidential administration how Arab and Muslims, immigrants, Black and Brown communities, LGBTQ people, women, and poor people are increasingly subjected to threats and attacks.Hours after President Donald Trump’s call to ban transgender people from the military made national headlines, San Francisco resident Rachel Rognerud, 28, created a call to action that is gaining steam.
The protest is set for 6 p.m. at Harvey Milk Plaza, at Market and Castro streets, and already more than 1,000 people have pledged to attend.
“My uncle is trans, and when I saw Trump’s tweet this morning it made me very angry,” Rognerud told the San Francisco Examiner…

Coal promoter and developer Phil Tagami is currently a candidate for a position on Oakland’s Police Commission. No Coal in Oakland is horrified at the prospect that this man – who proposes to bring toxic coall into Oakland and has sued the City to overthrow its popular ban on coal – could be chosen to represent residents on a city commission thattwill provide civilian oversight of the Police Department by reviewing and proposing changes to Department policies and procedures, requiring the Mayor to appoint any new Chief of Police from a list of candidates provided by the Commission, and having the authority to terminate the Chief of Police for cause.
Phil Tagami’s interview for a seat on the civilian Oakland Police Commission will be on Tuesday, August 8 at 7:00 pm at Oakland City Hall. We need you to attend. The selection panel needs to know that he is not fit to serve on the Police Commission.
Although cardboard signs will probably not be allowed in the room, you can bring a piece of paper with a message on it that you hold up at relevant moments. “Don’t pick Tagami.” “Tagami can’t be trusted.” “Tagami wants to pollute West Oakland.” “Tagami is suing Oakland.” “Tagami not fit to serve.” Be creative!
There is an opportunity to speak at the interview, but not to engage in dialogue with the panel. Speaker’s cards will be available at the meeting. We should be strategic about this so the panel doesn’t get annoyed at redundant speakers. It would be best to have people speak who can represent neighborhoods, congregations, unions, and other organizations. Speakers can invite the audience to stand to express solidarity with them, rather than having repetitive presentations.

Rally, march & direct action to commemorate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the place where new US nuclear weapons are still being developed today.
8 am rally with speakers: Daniel Ellsberg (legendary activist and leaker of the Pentagon Papers), Marylia Kelley (executive director of Tri-Valley Cares), and a Hibakusha (Japanese atomic bomb survivor). Together, solemnly we will commemorate the nightmarish effects of nuclear weapons–from uranium mining to testing use–on the people of Japan, the Marshall Island, and the First Nations–and all the people living near nuclear facilities across the country and around the world. We will recommit ourselves to efforts to abolish these indiscriminate weapons of mass destruction Please bring a large photograph of a loved one. As always, we act in the spirit of nonviolence.
At 9:00 am we will march to the gates of Livermore Lab, where we will join in an Obon dance, (Japanese folk dance). Following the dance those who choose will peaceably risk arrest.

Let Our People Go is a youth-and-elder-friendly action that opposes the detentions/deportations and mass incarceration with activist debriefs, music, art, stories and representation from different faith communities (including faithful and faithless humanists). LET OUR PEOPLE GO was initiated by members of the Kehilla Immigration Committee on the 2nd Sunday of every month, modeled on the 1st Saturday vigils held by our partners at Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity. Many of us, especially caregivers, can’t get to evening meetings or attend long weekend events and marches, but we want to show up and we want to get youth involved in this struggle. This one-hour protest is a way for more families with tweens/teens—especially those with citizenship privileges—to stand up for our peoples and bring more attention to this immoral site of internment right in our community.

You probably already heard that on Sunday night, the Alameda County Sheriff’s official twitter account retweeted infamous white supremacist Richard Spencer.
The department’s claiming this is an “accident,” but in fact it’s part of a long pattern of racist attitudes and practices at the department.
This same deputy, Sargeant Kelly, made headlines defending the arrest of a fruit vendor a few months ago, saying: “If you don’t enforce this type of selling, it will begin to look like a Third World fruit market.”
And Sheriff Ahern himself signed a letter endorsing white nationalist Jeff Sessions’ nomination as Attorney General. And he’s also said he can identify undocumented immigrants based on “language, luggage, and clothing.”
We cannot remain silent.

This training introduces APTP first responders model for conducting independent investigations of police terror and providing support to impacted families. The training will cover:
-Preparation and building investigation team
-Conducting investigations
-Trauma focused interviewing
-Cultural sensitivity
-Providing family support
-Lessons learned from past investigations
-Know your rights

This training is organized together with SURJ – Oakland/Bay Area as a fundraiser for Anti Police-Terror Project.

1. From 5:00PM – 5:45PM, there will be a DIY Policymaking teach-in facilitated by Sustainable Economies Law Center’s Policy Director, Yassi Eskandari, and Executive Director, Janelle Orsi. They’ll present best practices for engaging in local and state-level policy issues.
2. From 5:45PM to 7:30PM, we’ll be hosting a Policy Cafe and offering individualized consultations for folks who want to discuss their specific ideas and get advice on questions such as:
- What are the next steps after I have come up with my policy idea?
- How do I draft a policy proposal?
- How do I approach council members, county supervisors, or other legislators about my idea?
- How do I navigate the legislative process?
- In what ways can my nonprofit participate in policy advocacy?

In 2015, David and Sandra released edited footage claiming that Planned Parenthood was selling fetal tissue for profit. These claims were later proven to be completely false. The videos were nothing more than an attempt to slander Planned Parenthood, incite violence against abortion providers, and make abortion inaccessible. David and Sandra are currently being charged with 15 felony counts.
Let’s show them that the State of California will not tolerate anti-choice propaganda and that we stand with Planned Parenthood. Under the Trump regime we cannot afford to be silent when it comes to women’s rights.
