Embodying The Movement – Somatics for (R)evolutionaties.
Using movement, writing, and art-based practices we will create a safe space to address some of the stress, fear, and pain that arise out of healthy response to volatile situations. When doing this stressful work, self-care becomes imperative! Many of us have experienced some degree of trauma of late, whether that’s conflict with police or the life circumstances that brought us to this movement in the first place. In this group we will take time to ground and nourish as well as to stay present with the discomfort that may arise when we slow down enough to feel the body’s response to these “unacceptable” situations. By slowing down to feel we give our nervous system a chance to release this stuck energy so we have more resources available for clear, poignant, and engaged action.
Facilitated by Daniel Bear Davis and Kristen Greco

Occupy Oakland is a resurrection movement, and it has once again risen from the dead after the police raid early Monday morning! Join us Wednesday for our weekly “Liberation Bible Study” at Oscar Grant/Frank Ogawa Plaza. just prior to General Assembly, which begins at 6.
We are excited to announce that this week, the Bible study will be led by Gerald O. West, a visiting South African liberation worker and Bible scholar who was active as a white man in the anti-Apartheid movement and now teaches at the Ujaama Center.
In these Bible studies, we read scripture together for guidance in how to decolonize our minds and spirits in the context of the Occupy (to Decolonize) Oakland movement. Join us every Wednesday or whenever you can.
We will meet at the entrance to the plaza just north of Tully’s at 14th and Broadway. Look for the circle of people with a stack of Bibles in the middle.
Meets Monday Wednesday, Friday and Sundays at 6.
Come meet up with us at the House of Music at 6pm to learn more about Occupy the Hood.

Candlelight Vigil for the death of democracy in America at the hands
of the 1% and rebirth of our nation in the hands of the 99%. We shed the myth of democracy in America. We pay respect to those passed souls who bore the torch of freedom and equality in this country, through struggle, bold action and sustained belief. We honor our ancestors and the souls of those that have strengthened life throughout the world. We will draw upon this collective spirit to guide us forward, as we claim our country for present and future generations.Oscar Grant Plaza AmpitheaterAfro/Cuban/Latin/Native DrummersSpoken Word, Song and StortytellingChild Friendly
