There are 2 board vacancies on the West Oakland Project Area Committee (WOPAC) This committee is responsible for advising the City Council on the use of redevelopment funds in the West Oakland Redevelopment Project Area. To be considered as a candidate you have to either be a residential tenant in the Hoover/West MacArthur area of West Oakland or you have to own a residence within that area. Plenty was said about the length of the statement read last night and the inappropriate venue. so I will just point the writer and other folks feeling a need to have their thoughts and emotions heard and validated by their community to the declaration adopted by Occupy SF and penned by Scott Rossi. http://youtu.be/Mz2Ly4kepF0 For me the tone, length and sentiment are on point with what the movement was experiencing at the time and therefore I think easily passed the SF GA. This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
