Labor practices at Apple supplier Foxconn

Categories: Open Mic

This horrific alternet article is worth a serious read and reflection. we use apple products without regard for the abuse of the employees that make them.  how does occupy address this sort of labor abuse when it happens offshore but the products are sold in our neighborhood?

it is an unfortunate byproduct of globalisation that you simply can not buy a computer that isn’t made in China. If anyone knows of a supplier that makes them elsewhere I would love to know. Or even if there is a way to see the various levels of labor abuse per manufacturer, so lets say for example Lenovo might not force people to live onsite or work 7 days a week. (dont know this only saying its a possibility). Whereas Apple’s contractor Foxconn does make them work 7 days a week and live onsite.
    Lenovo would be preferred.
as it is I cant know what the labor practices of each supplier are, and they are all bad, Apple is not the sole party. So do we stop using computers?
