seeking artisans to assist in banner and sign making

Occupy the freeways is a new occupation group. Currently based in the bay area. Our purpose is primarily to make signs banners flyers and other media formats for the occupation groups in the area. And to display them at freeway overpasses, on ramps, off ramp, crossroads, parades and other places large amounts of public pass by. We seek to inform and educate the masses who would
Other wise not see any occupation presence or purpose. We wish to help provide High Quality Durable Materials that will last for more than a single use. And be available at need for events.

Currently we are seeking skilled artisans able to produce professional quality Work. We need several volunteers to work in making 4. Banners on heavy duty 6×9 canvas. Thies are ment to be hung from the fences or suspended between poles on or bye freeway overpasses during Occupy the Freeway public awareness rallies.

Later we hope to help make materials for other groups in the area and eventually nationwide.

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
