Hello, I am a registered nurse at Summit Medical Center,
which is located at 350 Hawthorne Street in Oakland.
We have been in contract negotiations with Sutter Corporation since May 2011 and have yet not reached an agreement. We have 70+ takeaways still on the table.
We are planning one day strike on DEC 22 in front of Summit Hospital. I would like to have your support at our strike lines, to defend workers rights and fight against the corporation. Thanks for your support in advance.
If it is possible, we would like to come and discuss this issue at your general assembly this coming Sunday.

I will be at this GA, I encourage you to speak before the group and ask for support. I am only one voice of course, but will be there and encourage others to back our union sisters and brothers.

Also, you can come to any GA and announce this during action announcements. Or you can contact a committee and ask them to announce it during committee business if they will support you. This is idea, because committee business comes early on when people are still there/awake. Look on the front page of the OO website at the top and you will find committee info. Sometimes going to the committee meeting yourself after trying to contact them works best. Thanks.

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
