Writers Want to Read at Occupy

Categories: Announcements, Open Mic, Reflections

To the admins of the Occupy Oakland site/organizers of Occupy events:

I’m a writer and an MFA writing student at California College of the Arts, in Oakland and SF. I’m a resident of Oakland and can’t always participate in the Occupy events because I’m busily working on my thesis, though I am watching the events and reading about them in the news and occasionally stop by Frank Ogawa, in awe of how amazing this is, how powerful this is, and how much we need this. Thank you, Occupiers!!

I want to organize a reading of about 10-20 readers on Nov. 26 in Frank Ogawa on Occupy, on Oakland, on what is happening before us–not limiting it to any genre of writing. Could I reserve a mic and a space and a time on the afternoon or evening of Nov. 26th? Us writers have things to say, in metre, in a speech, on the page.

Let’s keep up the conversation,

Erin Heath
