So, a little cafe shop joins the 1%. And here I was thinking this was an anti-mega-corporation thing. Perhaps you can provide an explanation of what qualifies one as 1% vs 99%? That would be most helpful, providing you’re in the mood to be helpful.

I suspect though, that this is part of the overall defining characteristic of this “movement.” Nobody really has a good definition of 1%, or 99% or “what do we want?” and “when do we want it?”. There was a sign that said “Make Amazon Pay Taxes” which to me sums it all up pretty neatly. If you don’t get it, don’t feel too bad. Neither did the maker of that sign.

By the way… if an employee doesn’t like the benefits (or lack thereof), what’s to stop said employee from leaving the firm? This isn’t exactly indentured servitude. What people don’t seem to understand is that Americans have pretty much priced themselves out of the market. If someone expects to make a career of a part time job, including full benefits, well let’s just say that’s not exactly consistent with the history of part time work. It is, however, consistent with the “entitlements gone wild” mentality that has become a dominant force in the world.
