If you read through our history (human society) you can presume that as great as our protest of the status quo may be, those in power are happy to accept the fact that we are exercising our right to dislike the ‘way things are’. That does not mean they are going to change anything, and will simply wait until a violent action occurs and justifies the police presence. So, what is the end game. The protest of our current form of democracy is absolutely necessary if we want parity, but no matter how loud we scream, no matter the inevitable tossing of bottles or rocks that erupts into violence, and no matter the number of injured, arrested, or killed, it still changes nothing on Wall Street, or across the tables in Washington. We exulted in the election of Obama; the breaching of a huge barrier, which was a phenomenal success for our ‘nation’, but as I read it, it is still business as usual. Securities firms showing more than double their profits under the Obama administration than under the Presidency of George W. Bush. On the surface we’re getting face time for universal health care, but expanding drilling operations in Alaska. Across the country Unions are being targeted for extinction, and we’re still sending our soldiers away to kill Taliban, for what? Oil? Opiates?
I see this movement going to the polls. We have been drowned under two party rule for too long. When all the Republican party has to offer up is a choice between Gingrich, Romney, or Cain, what difference does it make what we do with our vote. If every American with an expanding conscience voted Green Party candidates in November 2012, that would lubricate the stranglehold the Democratic and Republican party have had on “we the people” for too long. Standing on a soap box will accomplish nothing. It is a perfect time and place to start that momentum. I can assure you Fox, NBC, and NPR are not going to do it for us. They are as blinded and pacified as any. Support your local, and alternative newspapers. Find out what it will truly take to get the ‘GENERAL ASSEMBLY’ in DC.
