Occupy Antigone

Categories: Announcements, Open Mic

A group of theater artists in the Bay Area and beyond are working to create a production based on principals from and related to the struggles of the #OWS movement. We begin with a crowd-sourced text communally edited on a wiki. http://occupyantigone.wikispaces.com/

Here is the description from the wiki:

A crowdsourced emergent text contributed to by #OWS protestors, friends, allies, comrades, and fellow artists. The text will form the basis of performances to be developed in a facilitation rather than directorial style. Rather than a director who runs the show we would employ techniques of facilitation, modified from those used to facilitate General Assemblies, to craft the shape of the production. Dominant voices are encouraged to step back, etc. Utilizing group wisdom and consensus to guide individual performer/designer impulses rather than a top down directorial hierarchy. Like with #OWS there would be leaders. Everyone who participates would be a leader. The concern is to create a collaborative space free of hierarchy.
