National Port Shut Down…

Categories: Announcements, Open Mic, Reflections

So after todays success of shutting down the oakland port, I wonder it a larger scale effort would increase pressure on the federal Gov’t to step in and enact change.

Say for example, today it’s oakland, friday it’s NYC, monday, somewhere down south… We can pick at random so as companies can not reroute their shipments & more so that many of the larger companies will be impacted by several off the shut downs because once their shipments free up at on location heading to the next…. Who knows if that port will be open when it arrives?

I think it can have a HUGE impact on mega retailers like Walmart, Target & the likes, because their shipments will end up being rerouted, delayed and stored. All at a steep cost to them… the 1%.

START INFRINGING ON THE NEEDS/WANTS AND LUXURIES OF THE 1% & that’s where were going to force change.

Take care & Be safe out there….

Occupy oakland’s “agenda”, although unclear and somewhat irrelevant in certain aspects, need to try to stop directly contradicting whatever it is this “movement” or “occupation”, is all about! Now, because of the apathy of the masses laws have been put in place without most of us understanding or even being aware of said law. Now, we the people, want to stay wait a minute this isn’t right. I personally agree. But what are you trying to accomplish in the end. Now if u want to break written law then turn around and use written law(whether local or federal) to bring people to justice that interfere with occupy oakland or try to run people down, for some reason I just think that is in direct contradiction. Coming from a political science, argumentation, and pre law education, (formal education who cares,,,??) just consider what I am saying and clarify what u are trying to accomplish and keep with a stance that for good or bad is in direct support of your goals. thanks for doing what needs to be done, while i sit at home and hope you all succeed. But knowing, the odds are stacked against you in an extremely unimaginable way. “The status quo will be protected at all costs”

While a one day shut down of the Port is good for publicity of the Occupy movements, a longer shut down will only be counter-productive. The Port is not the enemy. Thousands of longshoremen, merchant marines, truckers and other support personnel depend on this port and other ports for their livelyhood. Shut down the banks, the stock market, Congress…if you want to make a positive impact. Do not make working people upset because our actions are misdirected.

i think that is an awesome idea. i would also suggest a HUGE convergence on DC and/or NYC sometime in the spring–possibly tax day, ides of march, whenever would be the most symbolic. every occupier in the country shut down dc and or ny–can you imagine?

What about the damage this would be causing to the workers at the ports who will miss out on a day’s pay because of a shut down? Or the economic damage to the truck driver who lost money because he couldn’t make a delivery or the clerks in the warehouses, etc??? They are not part of the 1% and they are being financially hurt much faster than anyone else by these shut downs. How do you justify that?

occupy oakland needs to decide if it is a protest or a riot. violence and vandalism will destroy the movement, estrange its supporters, and ironically help wall street.

if you see anybody breaking windows or setting fires, take their picture and turn them in to the police. separate criminal rioters from the protest. renounce violence and vandalism, and shun those who practice it.
