OCCUPY OAKLAND 24HR NOTICE PROPOSAL
The GA speaks as the communal voice of #OO. What the GA endorses, whom it embraces is the communication we as #OO present to the world and other Occupies.
The proposals the GA votes to adopt are among the most important ways we as #OO speak. And in order to be fully informed on what the GA is voting on, the community has to have adequate time to review and consider a proposal on its merits. It’s important that there be time for discussion, not just instinctive reaction.
•THEREFORE, it is proposed that effective immediately, in addition to meeting all otherwise established requirements, ALL PROPOSALS MUST BE POSTED TO THE OO WEBSITE & FACEBOOK PAGE, AT LEAST 24HRS PRIOR TO THE GA AT WHICH THEY ARE TO BE VOTED ON.
•NO PROPOSAL W/ LESS THAN 24HRS PUBLIC NOTICE SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO COME BEFORE THE OO GA FOR A VOTE.
•The fac & web committees will do their best to post approved proposals ASAP, but submitters are expected to understand that having your proposal in web-ready format makes their work on our behalf easier.
•Proposals already in the queue shall be exempted from this ruling.
True. That’s a good point. But the best I can respond is that its their suggestion that this site and facebook, be the official notice site, so hopefully they will take a look. But you point is well taken, lets give them slack in having time to respond. Thanks for clarifying a truth.
how is the proposer supposed to answer this when the proposer doesn’t know this is online?
Clarifying Question: I am not affiliated with the 24 hour notice proposal
If this passes, Is the 24 hour notice by posting to the web supposed to be done by the proposing group before it goes to the facilitation committee, or by the facilitation committee after they have approved the proposal and scheduled it.?
