Join Zoom Meeting:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85449203697 Green Sunday:  Why Stop ‘Super’ Artificial ‘intelligence’? Nobel laureates, award winning researchers, and the most cited scientists in history are warning that the development of advanced artificial intelligence poses catastrophic risks to humanity including the risk of human extinction. Demand REAL SOLUTIONS to the homelessness crisis! @ outside Oakland City Hall, Oscar Grant Plaza
Join the Rally & Press Conference A plan to rush a new “Encampment Abatement Policy” that would criminalize homelessness in Oakland failed on Wednesday, thanks to the over one hundred residents who came out to speak in opposition to the proposal and in favor of real housing solutions. Organizing works! But the fight is far from over – the Public Safety Committee voted to put this legislation on their “pending” list, which means Councilmembers will have time to propose amendments before bringing the policy back to Council for a vote. In the meantime, … Continued

Free COVID Testing at The People’s House - Oakland @ The People's House
As COVID cases once again rise across the Bay Area, access to testing and protective resources has become more difficult for our communities—especially for Black, Brown, unhoused, and working-class residents. Many of the free testing sites that once served our neighborhoods have closed, and store-bought tests are unaffordable or unavailable for many. In response, the Anti Police-Terror Project and The People’s House are stepping up to meet the need. We believe public health is a collective responsibility, and we remain committed to providing tools that help keep our communities safe and resourced. We … Continued

Reflections Behind Bars: Film Screening @ UC Berkeley School of Law — Booth Auditorium
This gathering is more than a film screening—it is a space for honest dialogue, reflection, and connection. You’ll hear directly from people whose lived experiences challenge assumptions and deepen our understanding of how cycles of harm take root and how they can be broken. Your voice and perspective matter in shaping the solutions that will define our communities for the next generation. Together, we can envision and work towards a future in which compassion and evidence guide our policy decisions, so that every child has the chance to thrive.78370

John Carpenter’s legendary sci-fi action film is now regarded and revered more like a prescient documentary. If you really want to know what’s going on behind the scenes of our authoritarian Government and all the complicit corporations, keep those glasses on, man. Also, chew bubble gum and kick ass.‬78353

About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.

If you would like to participate while the pandemic is still amidst, send an email to occupyoakland-request@lists.riseup.net. Check the calendar or this text to see if we have resumed in-person meetings.
