Pursuit suspect shot and killed by Daly City police officer

SAN FRANCISCO —

A suspect involved in a high-speed pursuit with Daly City and San Francisco police was shot and killed during a foot chase, authorities said.

The incident began early Saturday at an intersection of John Daly Boulevard and Santa Barbara Avenue in Daly City when a Daly City police officer tried tried to make a felony stop on a car with two men inside.

Shortly after, the driver brandished a firearm at the officers and then fled the scene.

After a high-speed chase through the city, the pursuit ended near the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Hester Avenue in San Francisco’s Little Hollywood neighborhood at about 12:28 a.m.

Authorities said the two suspects in the pursuit jumped out of the vehicle, sending it crashing into a police car and attempted to escape on foot.

One of the passengers surrendered to officers, but the otherfled on foot with his gun in hand.

Daly City and San Francisco Police officers approached the driver, who then aised his gun at the officers. Fearing for his life, he discharged his firearm at the suspect.

The suspect was shot in his torso and died from his injuries, police said.

Police have not identified the suspect.
