The Urban Shield trade show, featuring weapons of individual and privacy destruction, commenced yesterday, September 4th, and will end on September 8th. Fight For $15 Takes Action Around the Country. Oakland Confronts Jack-in-the-Box, McDonald’s.


Strike actions and civil disobedience have taken place across the country today in the next escalation of the Fight For $15/hr and the right to form a union without retribution. Tweets have noted events in: Boston, New York City, Philadephia, Charlotte, Miami, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Flint, Indianapolis, Wisconsin (city unspecified), Chicago, Rockford Illinois, Little Rock, Houston and, of course, Oakland. Urban Shield 2014 Arrives.


From September 4th, 2014, until September 7th, 2014, Urban Shield reappears in Oakland, CA. It’s four days of glorifying militarized police and their deadly toys. It’s a convention which markets death via its trade show and whose 2013 publicity has a picture of commandos on a BART train pointing assault weapons while a passenger rides nonplussed. Kayvan Sabeghi’s Lawsuit Against the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department Ready to Proceed.


Kayvan Sabeghi, beaten to the point of internal injuries by OPD late into the evening of November 2nd, 2011, settled his claims against the City of Oakland for $645,000 some time ago. At the beginning of June some Occupy San Francisco peeps took up stations outside of a Staples in San Francisco, protesting Post Office privatization and union-busting, and stayed there, 24-7, for nine days, garnering national attention. Last Albany Bulb Residents Evicted at Gunpoint, Arrested.


According to Osha Newman, a lawyer and long-time activist who has worked with Albany Bulb residents in their now-lost attempts to stay in their homes, the last two residents of the Bulb were evicted on Friday, May 30th at gunpoint. At 4 AM this morning, a large contingent of Albany police, some carrying guns including assault rifles raided the campsite of the two last residents of the Albany Bulb, Amber Whitson and Philip Lewis, and arrested them along with a supporter, Erik Eisenberg.
