March to Protest Eviction of Residents of the Albany Bulb

Action

The Albany City Council has voted to begin the eviction of everyone living on the Bulb in October. More than 50 people, some of whom have been residing on the landfill for a decade will have nowhere to go but the streets and sidewalks of Albany. Come with us and tell the Albany City Council that we can share the Bulb, as we have been doing for years, and that eviction without housing is not a solution. March with Bulb residents to the City Council meeting and show that the future of the Albany Bulb should be decided in a way that includes the people who live there.

6:00 p.m: meet at the Albany Bulb Parking Lot (1 Buchanan Street Extension)

6:30 p.m: march along Buchanan Street to City Hall

7:30 p.m: Meeting, Albany City Hall (1000 San Pablo Avenue)

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
