[Passed at 2/26/12 GA] Proposal for Principle of Solidarity Against Police Repression

Given the current climate of police repression against Occupy Oakland, and given that a key tactic of this repression is to foment and exploit divisions among us, we hereby collectively agree to stand in solidarity with one another, across all potential divisions. We enact this principle of solidarity with one another by recognizing our individual and collective responsibility not to incriminate our fellow Occupiers, and hereby agree that: 1) We will not talk to the police about our comrades (This includes all levels of local, state and federal law enforcement, … Continued

[Passed at 2/26/12 GA] Proposal for Day of Solidarity Between Oakland and Palestine on Tuesday, March 13, 2012

We ask OO to endorse a Day of Solidarity Between Oakland and Palestine on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, the third anniversary of the shooting of Tristan Anderson. Tristan is a longtime Oakland activist who was shot in the head with a tear gas grenade in 2009 while doing human rights work in Palestine. He survived, but had a large area of his brain removed. We envision March 13th beginning at about 4:00 PM with a press conference followed by a rally at OG Plaza. We will then march through the … Continued

[Passed at 2/26/12 GA] Proposal for Occupy Oakland To Show Israeli President Shimon Peres Its “Vision of Tomorrow” – No to Apartheid

On March 6, 2012, Israeli President Shimon Peres will come to Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco to give a talk titled “Israel and the Jewish People: A Vision of Tomorrow.” In light of this theme, we want to show Peres what our vision of tomorrow would look like by warmly greeting him with a mass protest against apartheid outside of the temple. Shimon Peres, as seen by the choice of his themed talk, is a positive thinker. He likes to put things into positive light and make the future look … Continued

Anti Nazi Rally and Counterdemonstration in Sacramento on February 27, 2012

Neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, Christian Identity followers, and other white nationalists are planning a rally against the “genocide” of white South Africans on Monday, February 27th, 2012, from noon to 3:00 PM. I am calling for Occupy Oakland to endorse the call to shut the Nazi rally down with a counterdemonstration. I apologize for the short notice, but I had not realized the need for support until recently. We will meet at 8:00 AM and our convoy will leave from OG Plaza at 8:30 AM and reach Sacramento at about 10:00 … Continued

[Passed at 2/26/12 GA] Proposal to Endorse Iran Action Assembly on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM

We are here as part of: Code Pink, Women4Peace, WAK: Women Against Killing, Grandmothers Against War, and other anti-war activist groups. We in Code Pink and WAK work to enable, value, and project women’s voices, ideas, actions, and leadership, as we work to end all forms of violence, especially war. The imminent threat of a new war with Iran carries with it the real danger of yet another horrendous global, human, environmental, and not to mention political catastrophe. The voice of the people needs to be heard to stop this … Continued

Occupy Education California – March from UC Berkeley & All Peralta Colleges to Oscar Grant Plaza – March 1, 2012

occupy-education

We refuse to pay for the crisis created by the 1%. We refuse to accept the dismantling of our schools and universities, while the banks and corporations make record profits. We refuse to accept educational resegregation, massive tuition increases, outrageous student debt, and increasing privatization and corporatization. They got bailed out and we got sold out. But through nationally coordinated mass action we can and will turn back the tide of austerity. We call on all students, teachers, workers, and parents from all levels of education — pre-K-12 through higher … Continued
