Media Incrimination of Occupy

Categories: Discussion

In a SF Chron article published today (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/01/30/BAFG1N0MR2.DTL) there is a statement drawing Occupy Oakland into a tragic double murder.

I was reminded of the article published last summer about the shooting at OGP where no initial information was published about the victim or perpetrators.  Instead it read like a verdict on Occupy Oakland.  I thought it might be helpful if people started posting “journalistic irregularities” as well as good articles.

What do you think?

A terrible tragedy for sure…what more is there to say…It’s pretty clear that Sean posted it as an example of “journalistic irregularities” of which there are hundreds. The 1% blitz beats us up badly and the record needs to be clear – regardless the totem position, the Chron was wrong to have tied the events to Occupy…we need our story out there, I like the idea

I walk by that house and the makeshift memorial every day, friend- those were my neighbors- when I would pass by we would each smile and wave. So save the “reality” bullshit.
You are right that Occupy is low on the totem pole in this “story”.
So why did the Chron mention it?

“media incrimination?” who gives a rat’s ass. this kid is in a world of trouble and two people are dead. some of you in OO are so far removed from reality in the city of oakland it’s painful. the media account of some rumor about occupy is pretty low on the totem pole in this story.

I saw that story too and it’s been popping up in wingnut circles.
The 1% blitz is in full effect.

I like the idea- Occupy does Politifact.
